Masai Inspired Fashion


Many fashion designers have used as a source of inspiration, various native African cultures. From Egypt to South Africa, a powerful colored palette of different tribes and cultures coexist. But few of them really draw the attention of designers. With just a bit of imagination, any designer would create something trendy out of an archaic, simple but beautiful, Masai clothing style. The tribes of Masai (or Maasai) are among those who draw the attention with their clothing.


Probably they are the most well known group from Africa. These semi-nomadic are famous for their warriors, body modifications and some sort of linen sheet. They use this sheet wrapped around the body in a specific way. They wear this apparel in bright colors, especially red, red with blue or different colored stripes.

In modern days, in civilized countries, linen tops, for example, are a sign of good taste in fashion. It is not a regular piece of your wardrobe, but a quite fancy one used as casual or non-casual outfit. Linen tops come often with accessories inspired by the Masai or other ethnic African cultures.
